Venerable Ryokan 'Kansuiro', Hakone, Kanagawa

Originally constructed as a villa of the Iwasaki family, the founder of Mitsubishi Zaibatsu, Kansuiro is a venerable ryokan which prides the 400-year history.

Built employing Japan's traditional method of construction worthy for the villa of Japan's representative entreprenuer, Kansuiro is designated as a Tangible Cultural Property for its beautiful interior and exterior architecture and its historical value.

Since its founding in 1954, Kansuiro has been loved by many celebrities including the Showa Emperor and Empress, Highness Prince Chichibu and Prince Takamatsu as a place of tranquility and warm hospitality that offers seasonal Japanese cuisine and quality hot springs from autologous source. In those days when it was used as a villa, it also receive the visit of many guests of honor such as the 13th Shogun's wife Atsuhime, former Prime Minister Ito Hirofumi, great author Natsume Soseki and so on.

Kansuiro was formerly called Motoyu Onsen (inn owning the source of hotspring) and is widely known as one of the seven major hot springs in the Hakone area.

Meals:
Guests can enjoy Kaisekii Ryori cooked with seasonal fesh-ingredients. Since the meal is served at each guest room, guests can be satisfied with the same quality of traditional dishes attracted celeblities in a comfortable atmosphere.


Baths:
The facility offers two types of baths, indoor Taishoburo, and open-air bath along Hayakawa river.

From Shinjyuku: Take Odakyu special express to Hakone Yumoto. Take a bus to Tohnosawa (5 minutes).
If you are coming from Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka by JR line, get off at Odawara, and transfer to Odakyu line to Hakone Yumoto.
