Cultural Property, Mikawaya Ryokan, Hakone, Kanagawa

Founded in 1883, Mikawaya is the Tangible Cultural Property registered shinise ryokan priding the 124-year history and the quality hot springs from the autologous source. Through its tradition as a long established ryokan, careful attention to detail and uncompromising services, it has attracted many celebrities including the famous artist Yumeji Takehisa, the forefather of Chinese modern history Sūn Wén and so on.

The ryokan is composed of the main building with a kara hafu gable entrance, a lounge building with Western-style interior achitecture, Getsu-bai with guest rooms arranged in one row, Sho-chiku with guest rooms arranged in the shape of rice fields and a bathing building built facing the courtyard providing comfortable accommodation environment of which the taste of a historical ryokan and the western comfort are unified.

Since the Mikawaya ryokan stands in the Kowakudani area, 660 m altitude, it enjoys an outstanding view of the surounding nature (Mt. Myoko, Daimonji Mountain and Izumi Kamiyama).
Furthermore, its well-maintained Japanese garden of 1014 square meters offers superb beauty of four seasons, the view nestling the ryokan is exceptional.

Meals:
Guests can enjoy Kaisekii Ryori cooked with seasonal fesh-ingredients. 


Baths:
In addition to a bath attached to the room (except rooms without bath), there are two types of indoor communal bath and one communal open air bath.

 Access and Sightseeing Spots

 Acceess:
From Shinjyuku: Take Odakyu special express to Hakone Yumoto. Take a bus to Horaien (20 minutes).
If you are coming from Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka by JR line, get off at Odawara, and transfer to Odakyu line to Hakone Yumoto, or take a bus to Horaien (40 minutes).
