Kamakura is a seaside Japanese city just south of Tokyo. The political center of medieval Japan, modern-day Kamakura is a prominent resort town with dozens of Buddhist Zen temples and Shinto shrines. Its most recognizable landmark is the Kotoku-in Temple’s Great Buddha, a roughly 13m-high bronze statue still standing after a 15th-century tsunami.


ITINERARY

Below is a recommended itinerary.
We can flexibly adjust it as per your requests.

9:00: Meet you up at your hotel. If your hotel is located outside Tokyo, additional fee is needed.
10:30: Arrive at Hase.
10:40: Daibutsu, Kotoku-in Temple
11:10: Hase dera Temple

12:00:    Lunch either in Hase or Kamakura Sta. srea (some options, request when apply)    

13:15:    From Kamakura Sta. Take a bus and move.   

13:30:    Houkoku-ji Temple, known as bamboo temple      

14:10:    Jyomyo-ji Temple. Enjoy casual tea ceremony viewing the garden.

15:00:    Kamakura Sta. Walk to Tsurugaoka Hochimangu Shrine.

17:00:    Back to Kamakura Sta. taking a stroll along Komachi Dori, souvenir shop district.

18:00     See you off at Osaki, Tokyo or Shinjuku Sta. 

*In case you wish to continue shopping or sightseeing in Kamakura, I instruct you precisely how you get back to your hotel.

 Houko-ji Temple / Bamboo TempleHōkoku-ji is an old temple in the Kenchō-ji school of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism. Famous for its bamboo garden, it is also known as "Bamboo Temple".
 Jyomyo-ji TempleTōkasan Jōmyō Zenji is a Zen Buddhist temple of the Rinzai sect, Kenchō-ji school, and is Number Five of the five temples known as Kamakura Gozan ("Kamakura's Five Mountains"), and the only one of the five not founded by a member of the Hōjō clan. Jōmyō-ji has instead, as nearby Zuisen-ji, deep ties with the Ashikaga clan, and was one of the family's funeral temples.
 Tsurugaoka Hachimangu ShrineTsurugaoka Hachimangū is the most important Shinto shrine in the city of Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. The shrine is at the geographical and cultural center of the city of Kamakura, which has largely grown around it and its 1.8 km approach.
 Komachi Dori / Souvenir shop districtThis street, along with it’s side streets, are home to about 250 vendors selling such such things as crafts, pottery, pickles, Japanese and Western sweets and snacks, general goods, clothing, and accessories. There are also restaurants and cafes serving dishes using shirasu (whitebait), native to the area nearby Kamakura, and Kamakura’s own vegetables.
Casual Tea Ceremony at Jyomyo-ji TempleIn Kamakura, a few places you can taste green tea are opening. Jomyoji Temple has an amazing teahouse for trying real green tea and Japanese traditional sweets with a small fee like 700 yen to 1,000 yen with seeing a beautiful Japanese garden.

MEETING LOCATION & TOUR DURATION

Meeting location: At your hotel lobby. If your hotel is located ouside Tokyo, meet you up at some major station in Tokyo.
End location: Tokyo Sta.
Duration: 9 hours (varies by the ending place)

JPY6000~7800 per person: transportaion Tokyo-Kamakura (JPY1840~3400/green car), casual tea ceremony (JPY1000), lunch (JPY2000), local transportation & admission fees, etc.


* For those who have Japan Rail Pass: If you have a green pass, you can travel between Tokyo and Kamakura in a green car without an additional charge. If it's ordinary one, you are not able to  be seated in a green car without a green ticket. Since trains in the morning and evening are fairly crowded, and tickets which are sold in car are higher in price than the normal price, it is wiser having decided whether or not you travel in a green car prior to entering the ticket gate. Let's discuss it after we meet.
